Charlie Victor Wojcik, 89

Charlie Victor Wojcik, 89, of Milford, passed away peacefully Friday morning, December 1, 2017, at Cincinnati Hospice, Blue Ash.  He was born October 12, 1928, in Jefferson, Ashtabula County, Ohio, the son of Vincent and Carrie (Janick) Wojcik.  

Mr. Wojcik served as a radio operator as a corporal in the Army in the Panama Canal Zone from 1946-1949. A proud graduate of the Ohio State University, for thirty years Mr. Wojcik taught science and math in Ashtabula, Convoy, and Indian Hill Exempted Schools. A man of many talents, Mr. Wojcik was well-known for repairing engines, raising the roof on his home and other additions and repairs, and photographing community and family events. Mr. Wojcik loved all kinds of games from croquet to softball often hosting neighborhood children for softball, tetherball, volleyball, or badminton games. Because of his love for and involvement in the game, a ball field at Lake Lorelei was named after him and a colleague. 

Mr. Wojcik is survived by his wife, Kathryn Ann (Mace) Wojcik who he married on August 28, 1954 in Spencerville, Ohio, his children Dawn Wojcik, Amy (Wojcik) Cross, Victor Wojcik, and Inas (Wojcik) Mrabet, his son-in-law Otmane Mrabet, his grandchildren, Krizinne Cross, (her partner, Jerod Jardine), Ronald Cross, and Omar Mrabet, and his great-grandchildren Colten Jardine and Jasper Jardine. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wojcik is preceded in death by his sisters Jesse Brocklehurst, Judy (Julia) Mescall, Sophia DiCarlo, and his brothers John Wojcik, Walter Wojcik, Stanley Wojcik, and Ted Wojcik. 

A service will be held later at the convenience of the family.

Larry Kees, 86, of New Richmond, died Thursday, December 7, 2017 at  his home. Born on October 10, 1931, he was the beloved son of Clyde and Anna (Bond) Kees. He was the devoted brother of Deleno “Frank” Kees and the late Clyde Jr., Vernon, and Jack Kees; the loving uncle of Craig (Lee) Kees, Dave (Kim) Kees,Victoria (Jim) Toohey, Beth (Craig) Bucholtz, Stephanie (Brent) Gibson, Tim (Karole) Kees, Cathy and the late Scott Kees. Good friend to Dave Schafer of New Richmond. After he retired as a trust officer of the former First National Bank of Cincinnati, he enjoyed life on the farm and loved playing music. He was an army veteran of the Korean conflict.

Graveside services were Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 1 PM at Newcomerstown Hartwood  Church Cemetery with Jim Tufford officiating.

Graveside service were conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard.

Elbert Dickerson Sr., 89, of Batavia, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at his residence. He was born October 5, 1928 in Adair County, KY, son of the late Charles Elmer and Grace Sapp Dickerson.
Elbert was an outdoors man through and through.  He loved to hunt, fish and trap.  He was also an artist with his stonework.

He is survived by his children, Linda (Ted) Nichols, Tom Dickerson, Patricia Keilholz, Richard (Brenda) Dickerson, Dan (Carol) Dickerson, Tony Dickerson, Bill Dickerson, David Dickerson and Theresa Bohem; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers and sisters; lots of nieces and nephews and his good friends, Charlie and Millie Engle, Mer and Cookie Swinson.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Elbert Dickerson Jr.; 4 grandchildren, Michael, Crystal and Jody Dickerson, John Harris and 3 siblings, Fred and Charles Dickerson and Laura Monday. 

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM, until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, 177 W. Main St. (SR 125), Amelia.  Interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens in Milford.

Spencer Singler,  80, formerly of Bethel, Ohio passed peacefully at his residence in Sebring, Florida on December 13.

He was reunited at Heaven’s gates with his late wife, Darlene “Dolly” Singler.

Spencer was born November 7, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late George and Beatrice Singler.

He spent many of his years as the owner of Bethel Tire.

He is survived by three sons, Todd Singler of Mount Orab, Ohio; Tim (Lisa) Singler of Georgetown, Ohio; and Ty Singler of Sebring, Florida. Grandchildren Natasha Rose, Kasie (Matt) Rector, Zachary Singler, and Amber (Brandon) Noel. Great grandchildren Shelby, Griffin, Carter, Kate, and Knox.

He is also survived by devoted companion of 21 years, Lynda Andrews, and canine buddy, Moses.

At his request, no services will be held.

Helen Rose Nelson, 71

Helen Rose Nelson age 71 of Hillsboro passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Christ Hospital of Cincinnati. Helen was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Elliott, and son-in-law, Brian Oliver.

Helen is survived by her step-mother Ruth Elliott, two children, Shauna Oliver and Kenneth (Mary) Nelson, three brothers, Zane Elliott, Curtis (Aurora) Elliott, and Rick (Patsy) Newberry, two sisters, Mia (Steve) Supe and Renae Smith, and eight grandchildren, Molly, Tristen, Kadence, Aly, Keyle, Brayden, Zayden, and Aubriauna.

Nelson

Born September 22, 1946, Helen grew up loving books and was rarely seen without one.

She had a long management career at Frisch’s where she befriended and inspired many.

In her later years she enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino but more than anything she loved being at her beautiful home spending quality time with family.

Although she struggled with many serious illnesses for some time, she always thought of others, sending gifts to other patients and ordering treats for hospital staff. She was a selfless woman that never knew a stranger.

Friends and family are invited to join the family at Helen’s beloved home, 6264 Fair Ridge Road, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, to celebrate Helen’s life.

Albert G. Mauch ‘Bud’, 81

Albert G. Mauch “Bud”, 81, a lifetime resident of Pierce Township, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his residence.  He was born March 6, 1936 in Amelia, son of the late Albert Paul and Henrietta G. Mauch.  He was married to Mary Ann Mauch, who survives, for 59 years. 

Bud was a lifetime farmer and a 50-year member of the Farmer’s Produce Market at Lunken Airport. 

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his son, Paul E. (Teresa H.) Mauch of Amelia; his favorite granddaughter, Kristen C. Mauch of Hilliard, OH; his favorite grandson, Cody M. Mauch of Akron, OH; cousin, Mary Beverly and many friends in Ohio and Florida. 

Bud’s wishes were to be cremated.  No services will be held.  Arrangements are by the E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia.  

Family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Pierce Township Fire, EMS and Police Department, 950 Locust Corner Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45245.

Thomas Edward Glasgow, 70

Thomas Edward Glasgow, age 70, a lifelong resident of Bethel, Ohio died peacefully at his home in Port Orange, Florida on Wednesday December 27, 2017.

Tom was a proud disabled Vietnam Veteran and retired builder. He was a 33-year member of Bethel Masonic Lodge F&AM #61. Tom was an avid sportsman.

He was born July 25, 1947 in Bethel Ohio, the son of Barbara Ann Glasgow and Charles Vincent Collins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving grandparents Loren and Pearl Glasgow, one daughter Roni Jean Taylor and one grandson, William “Will” Davison.

Mr. Glasgow is survived by two daughters – Tonya Taylor Forsyth, of Waurika, Oklahoma and Tiffany Glasgow Martorella of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, three step-sons James M. Williams, J. Mark Williams, Jason M.Williams and one step-daughter Jinger M. Williams. He is survived by 12 grandchildren. Tom was a very proud and loving father, step-father, and grandfather.

He was anxious to meet his newest grandchild, namesake, Luciano Thomas Martorella, born hours following his death.

Masonic and Full Military Honors Ceremony and Celebration of Life are yet to be determined.

Tom will be buried at the South Florida Veterans National Cemetery in Lake Worth Florida.

Howard Leo Meeker, 92

Howard Leo Meeker, 92, of Cincinnati, formally of Locust Ridge, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018.  He was born May 11, 1925 in Locust Ridge, OH, son of the late George Washington and Clara Ann Fischer Meeker.  He was the widower of the late Florel Rowley Meeker.

Among many trades and skills, Howard was a Registered Professional Engineer and a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.  He and his wife, Florel, owned four area nursing homes. 

He served as SSGT 12th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943-1945.  During his tenure in the military he was awarded several medals.  Howard was a past member of Toast Masters and the Cincinnati Music Theater. 

He earned a diploma in Industrial Engineering from Ohio Mechanics Institute and he took continuing education at University of Cincinnati, Ohio University, Chase, University of Alabama Birmingham and Huntsville, Auburn University and Tulane University.  He worked for numerous companies, including Boeing Aircraft, for which he worked at NASA on the Saturn V Rocket. He also farmed and raised livestock.

He is survived by his children, Steven Louis Meeker, Patricia Annette Meeker and William Howard Meeker.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin Peter Meeker, Edward George Meeker, Joseph Asbury Washington Meeker and William Charles Meeker Sr.

Family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, 315 W. Plane St., Bethel.  Rev. Tom Gaskin will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Tate Township Cemetery, Bethel, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Southwest Ohio VFW Memorial Team.

Gary Murphy of Eastgate Ohio passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the age of 69. He was born October 27, 1948 to the late Mary Francis Burchfield and James Murphy.

Gary is survived by his loving wife Marsha Murphy, his adoring children Tonya (Linden) Gifford, Joshua (Lauren Kaplan) Murphy, and James (Candace Huser) Murphy, his cherished grandchildren Gage and Zander Gifford, Brad McCall, Tenderly Beckelhymer, Thomas Reed, Ashlynn Huser, and two caring brothers Michael Murphy and Tim (Teri) Murphy.

In addition to his parents Gary was preceded in death by his Step-Father Frank Burchfield.

Gary was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church of God, he loved his family and loved his church. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation was held at Bethel Pentecostal Church of God located at 2738 St Rt 125, Bethel Ohio 45106 on Monday, January 15, 2018 beginning at 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Services were held at the Bethel Pentecostal Church of God on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 12:00 pm friends will be received beginning at 10:00 am until time of service.

Interment will be at Mt. Orab Cemetery following services.
