Marion L. Hopper, 85, of Batavia Township, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at his residence. He was born February 19, 1930 in Williamstown, Kentucky, son of the late Wallace and Dritha Limerick Hopper. He was married to Barbara Perkins Hopper, who survives, for 62 years.
Marion graduated from Corinth High School in Corinth, Kentucky; there he was on the All Star Basketball team and in the All State Chorus in 1946. He served in the Army from 1951-1953 where he specialized in communications. He married his love, Barbara Perkins on October 24, 1953. He was a member of the Batavia Church of Christ for 58 years; there he served as an Elder and teacher for approximately 40 years. He also served as an Elder at Ballard Church of Christ in Grand Rapid, MI for 2 years. He worked at Cincinnati Milacron from 1972-1992. He formed and retired from North American Centerless, which he owned and operated for 18 years. He then worked for CRI, New Haven, MI for 3 years before fully retiring at the age of 83. He traveled and worked in most of the 48 states as well as Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Turkey and Poland.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Kendall Brent ( Nina) Hopper and Rick L. (Beth) Hopper; grandchildren, Derrick Hopper, Christen (Ryan) Kauffman, Stephanie Hopper, Ruth Anna Hopper and Stephen Hopper; great grandchildren, Ella and Lilly Alexander and Kyah Hopper; sister, Mabel (Earl) Johnson and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Stephen; niece, Misty; brothers, Adrian and Don and his sisters, Erma and June.
Visitation was held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Glen Este Church of Christ, 937 Cincinnati-Batavia Pike, Cincinnati. Funeral services were held at 12:00 PM, Friday, at the church. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens, Milford. Arrangements are by E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia.
