Marlene Collins, 66, of Mt. Orab, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at her residence. She was born August 8, 1949 in Jackson County, Kentucky, devoted daughter of the late Hermon and Anna Moore Parker. She was the loving wife of Danny W. Collins, who survives, for 42 years.

She is survived by her children, Michelle (Ron) Moore, Vicki (Jody) Schmidt and Daniel Eli Collins; grandchildren, Julia, Anthony, Tiffany, Daniel, who is an Active Duty Marine, and Caleb; great grandchildren, Mackenzley and Willow; 7 brothers and sisters.

She was also the loving foster mother of 65 other children, who survive.

Visitation was held from 5-8 PM, Sunday, November 8, 2015 at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, 177 W. Main St. (SR 125), Amelia. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah cemetery, Ohio Township.

Adelaide Marie “Addy” Christman (nee Kerr), devoted wife of the late Ray Christman for 46 years. Loving mother of Sandra Christman James (Steve Mason) and the late Michael Henry Christman. Proud grandmother of Jason Hageman and Megan James. Sister of Richard Kerr (Debbie) and Lucille Brown (Emerson). Also survived by numerous family and friends. Addy, a resident of Amelia, passed away Thursday November 5, 2015 at the age of 76. She was known for her avid love of all animals. Visitation, E.C. Nurre Funeral Home 177 West Main St. (ST RT 125), was Monday November 9, from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment, Batavia Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

John Cannava, 94

John William Cannava, 94, of Amelia, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Mercy Fairfield. He was born April 10, 1921 in Over the Rhine, son of the late Sebastian and Pauline Faust Cannava. He was the widower of the late Grace D. Buehler Cannava.

John loved Norwood with all his heart; in fact people would often refer to him as “Mr. Norwood”. He worked at and ran the Norwood Fruit and Meat Market for 46 years. He was a member of the Melrose #671 Masonic Lodge of Ohio in Norwood. John regularly attended Calvary Alliance Church; he also attended Wright’s Carbonator School, before it became General Electric.

He is survived by his children, Col. Thomas (Margaret) Cannava – Ret., Tina (Ken) Hare, Bonnie (John) West, Tim (Lisa) Cannava; grandchildren, Rachel (Andy) Brown, Robert (Angela) Hare, Kentin Hare, Trista (Lance) Wagoner, Katie West, Grace West and Beth Cannava and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Tony and John T. Cannava; daughter, Grace Everson; brothers, Andrew, Babe and William and his sister, Grace.

Services will be scheduled at a later date.

Dorothy, a resident of Eastgatespring in Union Township, passed away November 15, 2015 at the age of 82. Graveside service will be held Friday, November 20 at 1 PM at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Marion Hopper, 85

Marion L. Hopper, 85, of Batavia Township, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at his residence. He was born February 19, 1930 in Williamstown, Kentucky, son of the late Wallace and Dritha Limerick Hopper. He was married to Barbara Perkins Hopper, who survives, for 62 years.

Marion graduated from Corinth High School in Corinth, Kentucky; there he was on the All Star Basketball team and in the All State Chorus in 1946. He served in the Army from 1951-1953 where he specialized in communications. He married his love, Barbara Perkins on October 24, 1953. He was a member of the Batavia Church of Christ for 58 years; there he served as an Elder and teacher for approximately 40 years. He also served as an Elder at Ballard Church of Christ in Grand Rapid, MI for 2 years. He worked at Cincinnati Milacron from 1972-1992. He formed and retired from North American Centerless, which he owned and operated for 18 years. He then worked for CRI, New Haven, MI for 3 years before fully retiring at the age of 83. He traveled and worked in most of the 48 states as well as Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Turkey and Poland.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Kendall Brent ( Nina) Hopper and Rick L. (Beth) Hopper; grandchildren, Derrick Hopper, Christen (Ryan) Kauffman, Stephanie Hopper, Ruth Anna Hopper and Stephen Hopper; great grandchildren, Ella and Lilly Alexander and Kyah Hopper; sister, Mabel (Earl) Johnson and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Stephen; niece, Misty; brothers, Adrian and Don and his sisters, Erma and June.

Visitation was held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Glen Este Church of Christ, 937 Cincinnati-Batavia Pike, Cincinnati. Funeral services were held at 12:00 PM, Friday, at the church. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens, Milford. Arrangements are by E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Glen Este Church of Christ, 937 Cincinnati-Batavia Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45245 or Crossroads Hospice of Cincinnati, 4380 Glendale-Milford Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45242.

Henderson (nee Schwartz), wife of the late Jack Bauer and the late John Henderson, mother of Debbie Kirk (Arnold), Steve Bauer (Lou Ellen) and Kathy Evanshine (Terry), grandmother of Matt Kirk, Jennifer Reeves, Andrew Kirk, Michelle Daugherty, Sandy Watson, Mark Bauer, Chris Evanshine, Chad Evanshine and Chase Evanshine and 10 great-grandchildren, sister of Ruth Schwartz, Germaine Sadler and the late Rita Sullivan and Teresa Lindsey. Ann passed away November 9, 2015 at the age of 85. Visitation was held Friday, November 13 from 10 AM until her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Bernadette Church in Amelia. Interment at Mt. Gitler, Henry W. Jr., passed away Tuesday November 3, 2015 at SEM Haven. He was born and raised in Newark, NJ. Henry was in the See Bee’s during World War II serving in Iwo Jima, the Gilbert Islands and the Marshall Islands. He retired from Wood Industries after more than 20 years as a draftsman. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Bernice. Bernice and Henry were avid dancers and loved to travel on cruises. They retired to Galveston, TX for 24 years before moving to Milford, OH. Preceded in death by sister Emily Meisnest and brothers William and Raymond Gitler. Survived by nephew Steven Robison. Memorial Service was on November 13th 10 AM at SEM Haven Chapel 225 Cleveland Ave. Milford OH.

Jerry Roger Carr, age 75 of Mt. Orab, Ohio died Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at his residence. He was a painter for Procter and Gamble and a member of the ABC Bowling Society. Jerry was born June 16, 1940 in Georgetown, Ohio the son of the late Edgar and Louella (Amiott) Carr. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son – Greg Carr; four brothers – Bobby, Donnie, Mike and Freddie Carr and one sister – Janet Clark.

Mr. Carr is survived by his wife Peggy (Donaldson) Carr and one step-son – Dustin Stone and wife Sarah of Williamsburg, Ohio.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Mt.Orab, Ohio.  John Neal will officiate. Visitation was from 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment Clinton County Memorial Gardens in Wilmington, Ohio.

She is survived by her husband Edward Belyea, children Richard Pennington Jr., Michael (Kimber) Pennington, grandchildren Jessica Shimin, Andrew Pennington and Michael Pennington, great-grandchildren Isaiah Redmond, Makayla Shimin, John Pennington, Daniel Pennington, sisters Patricia (Robert) Jones, Naola Howard, Yvonne Gifford, step-children Cary (Trisha) Belyea, Kristin (Rick) Baca, Eric (Michelle) Belyea, step-grandchildren Paul, Daniel and Maggie Belyea, Carly, Ricky, Adam, Zachary, Hailey, and Joey Baca, Jayme and Libby Belyea, and many other nieces, nephews and relatives. Jay Cee Aarron Dale, 28, of Batavia Township, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015. He was born December 19, 1986 in Cincinnati, son of Joseph A. (Crystal O’Neal) Dale and Juanita Oliver Dale of Hollywood, FL.

Jay was an Airman in the United States Air Force where he served a 6-month term in Afghanistan. He graduated from Amelia High School in 2005. Jay loved the Air Force, but he loved his family and friends more; he considered multiple families his own. Jay was the life of any party, he could take any frown and turn it upside down. He could smooth talk anyone, hence one of his nicknames “smooth”. Jay was extremely intelligent, he could put in minimal effort and bring home straight A’s. He was an excellent athlete, at anything he tried he excelled. Loyal, funny, great smile and very competitive are all words people can use to describe Airman Jay Cee Aarron Dale.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Jeremiah Dale; maternal grandfather, Jackie Oliver; paternal grandparents, Allen B. (Mary L.) Dale; cousins, Jacklyn and Tommy Crofts, Bobbi Carter, Brittany, Nick, Miranda and Chris Holloway, Brittany Wurth, Brandon Kendall, Robbie and Lauren Dale; uncles, Todd and Allen Dale and Adam Dozier and his aunts, Jemini Oliver, Jeanette Crofts and Angela Hodges.

Preceding him in death was his special grandmother, June Oliver and an uncle, Jackie Oliver Jr.

Visitation was held from 5-8 PM, Friday, November 20, 2015 at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, 177 W. Main St. (SR 125), Amelia. Funeral services were 11:00 AM, Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial followed at Batavia Union Cemetery, Batavia.
