Claris June (nee Griffith) of Goshen, OH., formerly of Warsaw, KY. Born on March 4, 1938 in Bell County, KY. Went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the age of 77. Loving sister of Christine Mills of Corbin, KY., Maxine Baker and Shannon Griffith of Goshen, OH. and the late Pauline Hensley, Daniel Griffith Jr., Fred Griffith, Lyn Block, Edna Saylor and Mary Goodin. Cherished daughter of the late Daniel and Leoda (nee Davenport) Griffith. Preceded in death by nephews, Bill and Gene and nieces, Sue and Effie. Also survived by 6 nieces, 14 nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews and many dear friends. June will be remembered for her humor, her love of cats, anything Elvis and fishing. Dear sister of Marlene Schmidt and the late Butch Schmidt. Cherished daughter of the late Walter and Ella (nee Nugent) Schmidt. Eugene Adams, 89
Eugene “Gene” E. Adams, 89, of Anderson Township, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Mercy Anderson Hospital. He was born May 6, 1926 in Amelia, son of the late Parker and Viola Lewis Adams. He was married to Susan Gephart Adams, who survives, for 6 years.
Gene was a United States WWII Army Veteran in the 135th Infantry. While in the Army he received the EAME Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal for World War II. He also received a French Legion of Honor Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 72 in Mt. Carmel and the Amelia Masonic Lodge #590 F&AM, for 65 years. Gene was President of the American Bowling Congress from 1988-1989. While in the Bowling Congress he was name Kentucky Colonel and got his Piolet license. He was also involved in local and state bowling associations. Gene was a civic minded person, thrifty and a hardworking man with high standards, especially in business. He was an active reader; he was even head of a mystery book club. Feeding the birds, deer and spoiling cats were some of his favorite things to do. He loved outdoor activities, loved to travel and loved sports, especially the Cincinnati sport teams. Gene enjoyed staying active and fit.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kim Knofsty and Jeff (Bunny) Adams; step-children, Scott (Sheila) Kliemann and Jeff (Elizabeth) Kliemann; grandchildren, Lindsey, Meredith, Erica, Evan, Jennifer and Jeffrey; step-grandchildren, Jenna, Gabe, Carson and Nate; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Ella Mae Hueber and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Adams and his first wife, Lois Adams.
Visitation was held from 9:30 – 11:00 AM, Friday, November 20, 2015 at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, 177 W. Main St. (SR 125), Amelia. Funeral services followed at 11:00 AM with American Legion service being conducted. Burial was at Batavia Union Cemetery, Batavia, following the funeral, with military graveside services conducted by the Southwest Memorial Team.

Glenn D. Fitzpatrick, beloved husband of Patricia Fitzpatrick (nee Bradford), dear brother of the late Gail Nolan, brother-in-law of Patrick Bradford (Sandra), loving uncle of the late Robert Nolan (Chris) and uncle of Charles and Robert Nolan. Glenn, a resident of Union Township, passed away November 28, 2015 at the age of 86. Glenn served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved gardening, hunting and fishing. Visitation was held Tuesday, December 1 from 10 AM until the time of funeral service at 11 AM at Mt. Doris Ann Darnall, age 66 of Georgetown, Ohio died Sunday, November 22, 2015 at the Anderson Mercy Hospital in Anderson Township, Ohio. She was a homemaker. Doris was born April 1, 1949 in Georgetown, Ohio the daughter of the late Harold and Gladys (Taylor) Montgomery. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband – Larry Darnall, one daughter – Carrie Ann Darnall and one sister – Donna Hile.
Mrs. Darnall is survived by one son – Christopher Darnall of Georgetown, Ohio; one granddaughter – Courtney Darnall of Georgetown and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Linda Carol Brown, age 68 of Hamersville, Ohio died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Batavia Nursing and Convalescent Center in Batavia, Ohio. Ms. Brown was born January 31, 1947 in Hamersville, Ohio the daughter of the late Ira Curtis and Clara Florence (Adamson) Brown.
Ms. Brown is survived by one sister – Sharon Hensley and companion David DeBord of Hamersville, Ohio; two brothers – Ira L. Brown of Hamersville, Ohio and James T. Brown and wife Andra of Georgetown, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara A. Baumgardt, age 58, resident of Milford, passed away quietly on November 20, 2015 surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved daughter of James F. and the late Thelma M. Auel, cherished mother of Amanda Auel and Justin Baumgardt, dear sister of Beverly Brown, Brenda Combs and James Auel Jr., and was the proud aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be missed deeply by her “fur babies”; dogs Hunter Nash and Nemo, and cats Sonny D and Shelby Tang. Barbara enjoyed bird watching and traveling. Her “Happy Place” was Red River Gorge, where she spent time camping, hiking and repelling. She also was passionate about gardening, but her first love was always spending quality time with her family and many friends. Travis Ryan Battig passed away November 14th at the age of 30. He was the treasured son of Bob and Sherri Battig. Loving grandson of Judy Battig and Alice Arant. Another beautiful soul lost to heroin. Travis loved God, family, friends and sports. He was a hard working young man who has been set free from the struggles of addiction. James Cordell Cowan, 71, of Batavia, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015 at his residence. He was born May 30, 1944 in Cincinnati, son of the late Charles and Margaretha Frey Cowan. He was married to Lillian Walriven Cowan, who survives, for 27 years.
James was a United States Navy Submariner Veteran in the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Queen City Masonic Lodge #559.
In addition to his wife, he was survived by his children, James (Betty) Cowan, Daniel Cowan, Michael Berry, Thomas Cowan, Jillian (Samuel) Thorpe and his grandchildren, Jimmy Cowan and Cady Berry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles “Jerry” Cowan, Judith Gould and Janeen Dawson.

Jenny was a member of the Milford Post #450 American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to ride snowmobiles in Michigan.
